Still Life Compositions
I have been compelled for all of my life to pick up found objects, whether natural or manmade, on beaches, in woods, or on roadside walks. Collections are the foundation of museums and art galleries, and the earliest collections were often known as “cabinets of curiosities”. Many artists collect objects to use as studies for drawing, photography, assemblage, or digital creations. These photo compositions explore different groupings, arranging objects according to type, colour, or material, in grids or in busy, ecclectic arrangements. (The gallery “Collections & Memory” contain my first explorations into table top compositions.) The creature compositions evolved a few years ago, quite naturally, from the small dead creatures I found on the roadside or in my yard.
