Paintings
My encaustic paintings often incorporate scraps of old documents, photo transfers, steel engravings, flowers, insects, or the flotsam and jetsom or roadside detritus gathered on daily walks, as I create imaginary landscapes, construct new narratives, or explore the medium’s sculptural and textural possibilities.
My oil and cold wax and acrylic mixed media paintings often incorporate collage elements as well. In all of these paint mediums I explore many themes and tangents: the passage of time, transience, surface texture, the nature of space and place, nature-based abstraction and landscape, patterning, still life composition, the grid, and automatic line drawings.
