Ink Drawings

My ink drawings are usually created through a process I call “follow-the-line”, evolving through intuition and spontaneity.  Many contain elements which relate to myth, deal with relationships, or reflect observations from the natural world—sometimes at a cellular level—using a visual language which is abstracted, pattern-based, and symbolic. Some are inspired by my photographs of the natural world around me and become abstracted or patterned translations and transformations of them. Sometimes the two intersect and inform each other.  A series of ink drawings called “Peg Leg” were commissioned for a book of my husband’s poetry, Learning to Dance with a Peg Leg: Three Dozen Tunes for a Third Mate, Wayne Clifford, Frog Hollow Press, 2009.
